The Old Town Orcutt Design Guidelines and Streetscape Plan help keep our town’s historic “old west oil town” charm while making it a beautiful, walkable place for all.
Originally drafted in 1985, these guidelines ensure that new buildings and renovations match the town’s unique style. They use pictures, drawings, and descriptions to show architects, business owners, and planners how to design in a way that fits Old Town Orcutt’s character. The guidelines also focus on making streets safer and more inviting for pedestrians, attracting businesses, shoppers, and tourists. They work alongside the Old Town Orcutt Streetscape Concept Plan, which helps shape the look of sidewalks and streets.
The latest guidelines, adopted in July 2006, apply to the main pedestrian area of Old Town and help ensure that future development blends well with the town’s historic feel while keeping it a welcoming and vibrant place to visit, live, and work.
